Jose Mourinho’s highly-anticipated appointment at Manchester United has taken the football world by storm.

The discontent under Louis Van Gaal has made way for the excitement the ‘special one’ will bring to the Premier League once again.

And, despite initial excitement from United fans, they will be the first to say that the Red Devils are in need of a reshuffle at the Theatre of Dreams – with the 2015/16 season failing to live up to the high standards the club has set in the past.

With the arrival of Mourinho to Old Trafford coming just six days after Manchester United’s FA Cup success, the 53-year-old will have plenty of time to weigh up signings.  Therefore, attentions will turn to his recruitment process over the summer as he will look to attract some big names to the club.

Keep reading to see the THREE players Jose Mourinho is likely to bring to Old Trafford this summer…

1) Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The relationship between Ibrahimovic and Mourinho has been well documented in the last 10 years and Zlatan looks to be at the top of Mourinho’s wish list.

The move could present a reunion between the two after last being with each other at Inter Milan in 2008/09 before the Swede went to Barcelona.

The 34-year-old Striker has had spells at the biggest clubs in Europe – most recently, a four year spell at PSG in Ligue 1.96648013_zlatan_sport-large_trans++fyXGikpR9ox1sv_ufVxBf2BrqQcGsXjhJ5Hj7xsfrD8

In his four years at the French club, the Swedish-international has been at the forefront of their attack, helping them win four successive domestic titles and dominate the whole of French football.

The one criticism of the striker, though, is fact that he hasn’t challenged himself in the world’s top leagues in recent years – something that has limited him from entering the same bracket as Messi and Ronaldo.

Therefore, a move to Manchester United could be on the cards. Could this be the last chance for Ibrahimovic to prove himself at the top level? Or will he be heading to China where the money lies.

Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, being reunited with Mourinho would prove an excellent spectacle for English football.

2) Raphaël Varane

In contrast to Ibrahimovic, Varane is a player, who at 23 years old, is just coming towards his prime.

The French-international had previously played for Mourinho at Real Madrid – making 33 appearances in the 2012/13 season.Raphael-Varane-Real-Madrid

Mourinho’s belief in young players has often been questioned over his managerial career but the confidence he had shown in Varane was something that could lead us to think that he will try and gain the services of the centre-back at Old Trafford.

One thing that could move Mourinho away from this signing is the fact that Varane is ruled out of Euro 2016. Perhaps it could turn Mourinho’s attentions to defenders that will impress at this summer’s tournament.

3) Eden Hazard

The relationship between Hazard and Mourinho has been fairly unpredictable in recent seasons.

Mourinho’s demise at Chelsea last season has often been pinpointed on players not wanting to play under him – most notably Hazard who had failed to live up to the name he made for himself in the 2014/15 season to help Mourinho win the Premier League.

However, despite recent bad form of the Belgian-international, it has been well-documented that the attacking midfielder wants out of Stamford Bridge in a plea to reinstate his career best form.

One thing is for sure, Mourinho seemed to get the best out of Hazard in the 2014/15 title winning season as he netted 14 goals and adding a further 9 assists over the course of the campaign. Hazard was also awarded PFA Player of the Year for the 2014/15 season and will most definitely want to find that form again.

The question is, will that be at Chelsea or elsewhere? Perhaps Mourinho will be keeping one eye on the Belgian’s form in the Euros to assess his chances of bringing him to Old Trafford.
